Story:
Friday, Burke braved the rain to attend the 2015 NHL Draft Party at Nationwide Arena. I kind of zone out during most sports talks, but from this I gather there is a Blue Jacket pick from Michigan. Welcome to Columbus all new Blue Jackets, wherever you are from. We hope you will enjoy Columbus as much as we do!
Saturday was a wonderful day for the 56th annual German Village Haus und Garten Tour! Grange Insurance kindly opened up their employee parking lot for tour goers and a trolley drove us to the starting tent (and then back to the parking lot). So, you know I was joyful about parking! As parking stress can put a damper on an otherwise fantastic day, German Village wonderfully provided an answer to that dilemma! Thank You! There were 12 stops along the tour, featuring historic homes with spectacular interiors and refreshing gardens. These were gardens I would love to sit and relax in. It seems every weekend I find a new Columbus neighborhood to fall in love with and this weekend did not disappoint!
Since photos of the homes were not permitted, Burke and I did take some photos of beautiful Schiller Park, located in the southern portion of German Village. Also in German Village is one of my favorite stops, Frank Fetch Park on Beck Street.
But no trip to German Village is complete, for me, without a stop to Schmidt's! We had only planned on ordering a cream puff, but logic prevailed and we ordered the pretzel nugget appetizers and we split a fish sandwich and 'crissy crossy' fries. Yes, I do order them that way. It is tradition. Well, my tradition. Really, we did not think we saved room for dessert, but we were wrong! It was time for a cream puff! Heaven, I can still taste it. They are so fantastic, my friends who have moved out of Ohio called me cruel when I posted on social media I had one! Mwa-haa-haa don't move away!
