Columbus! Something New 2.14.16
C!SN 2.14.16: We celebrate local this Valentine’s Day! Also, we visit Hilliard, Ohio’s Starliner Diner and the Early Television Museum.
Story:
Was your Valentine's Day fantastic? Mine was! Burke gave me a wonderful tasty gift of Anthony-Thomas Chocolates, my favorite! Growing up, Anthony-Thomas was the chocolate shop my mother would take me to for special treats. For Burke, I gave him a gift of body butter and bath bombs from Glenn Avenue Soap Company!
Saturday, Burke and I spent some time in Hilliard. First stop was a brunch at Starliner Diner. This was Burke's first visit, I have been there a few times long ago. My favorite is the Cuban French Toast. Little squares of goodness and powder sugar! The squares were topped with fresh fruit, such a good combination! This breakfast is so full of flavor, I only used a little bit of syrup on the side! Burke ordered the Cuban Sandwich and plantains. As he had never been to Starliner Diner before, he asked if they had French fries, and he found out their side is fried plantains. This was the first opportunity for Burke to try a plantain! He said they were similar to potatoes! I did not even try them, because my breakfast was so wonderful, I did not want to eat anything else!
From there, we drove the short distance to the Early Television Museum. From their website: The Early Television Foundation was founded by Steve McVoy. As a teenager he worked in a television repair shop after school, and sometimes worked on 1940's sets such as the RCA 630. In 1999 he sold his cable television business, was looking for something to do with his time, and decided to collect early television receivers. When we arrived, Steve's friend Larry greeted us, and welcomed us to look around the museum. Documented by every television is the history and information about the piece. Televisions at the museum date back to the 1930's, and the museum features rooms of European model televisions! So many old televisions feature beautiful wood and craftsmanship. I especially love the mid-century models! Check the website for hours and location, plenty of convenient parking is available!
C!SN is always happy to feature the music of Captain Kidd!
